Summary

On 22 October 2026, goods from Canada entering the United States can pay 9 additional duty headings of their own: Section 232 aluminium, steel and copper (25%), Section 232 medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (25%), Section 232 passenger vehicles (25%), Section 301 forced labour (10%) and Section 338 Canada (50%). They also pay what the United States charges on every origin where the goods are listed: Section 232 duties on aluminium, steel and copper (15% to 50%), automobile parts (25%), medium- and heavy-duty vehicle parts (25%), medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (10% to 25%), passenger vehicles (25%), patented pharmaceuticals (20% to 100%), semiconductor articles (25%), unmanned aircraft (100%) and wood products (10% to 25%). Most are charged on top of the regular duty; a heading charged “in all” or “instead” sets the total, and exclusions can lift a duty for particular products.

Section 232 aluminium, steel and copper

3 headings for goods from Canada, and 9 headings for every origin. The most specific heading that covers the goods applies: Canada’s own where it lists them, the every-origin heading otherwise.
