How border.bot handles AD/CVD
What border.bot's quotes include for US antidumping and countervailing duties today, what they leave out, and how to add an AD/CVD deposit yourself.
Updated · 4 official sources
border.bot's US quotes don't include antidumping or countervailing duty cash deposits today. The calculator, the API and the MCP tools price the regular duty, every chapter 99 duty and CBP's fees for the code and origin, but they return no AD/CVD line and no warning that an order might apply, so a product under an order is underquoted by the full deposit.
Rules as of 30 October 2026.
What does a quote include for goods under an AD/CVD order?#
A quote for goods that may be under an AD/CVD order includes everything except the order itself: the column 1 duty, Section 232, 301, 338 and 201 duties with their chapter 99 numbers, the merchandise processing and harbor maintenance fees, and the entry type. The AD/CVD cash deposit, which can be larger than all of those together, is missing.
That matters most for the goods with the steepest deposits. A $1,000 wooden nightstand from China is quoted at $375 in Section 301 duties plus fees; if it falls within order A-570-890 and the exporter has no separate rate, the entry also needs a deposit of 216.01%, $2,160.10, that the quote doesn't show. Restrict doesn't flag AD/CVD orders either: its checks cover bans, sanctions, forced labor rules and agency requirements.
Why aren't AD/CVD deposits in quotes yet?#
AD/CVD deposits aren't in quotes because the order data isn't live. We read the orders from public government sources into a separate dataset, and like every tariff change it goes live only after a person reviews the release; that release is still in review, so no AD/CVD rate is used in any calculation.
The data comes from two places: the International Trade Administration's list of open cases, and CBP's AD/CVD messages for each case, which are the instructions CBP's ports apply. For each order, the order message gives the HTSUS numbers it names and the first cash deposit rates, and each later cash deposit instruction replaces a company's rate or the all-others rate. Cases without an order in force, revoked orders and orders whose messages name no HTSUS number are left out. Even when this data is live, a code match will be a lead rather than a scope decision, because the written scope of an order decides coverage, not the HTSUS codes it lists.
How do you add an AD/CVD deposit to a quote?#
An AD/CVD cash deposit is the deposit rate times the entered value, added to the duties the quote already shows. The rate is your exporter's own rate where Commerce has given it one, and otherwise the all-others or country-wide rate for the order; a product under both an AD and a CVD order pays both deposits.
- Get the 10-digit HTSUS code from the quote or the HS code classifier.
- Search CBP's AD/CVD Search (opens in a new tab) for the code and the country of origin, and read the scope of any order it returns.
- If the goods are in scope, take the current cash deposit rate for your exporter's 10-digit case number, or the all-others or country-wide rate.
- Multiply it by the entered value and add it to the quote's duty total.
The landed cost calculator and Calculate give you the rest of the entry, including the chapter 99 numbers in CBP's reporting order. Remember that the deposit isn't final: Commerce can set a higher or lower rate in a later administrative review, and the importer of record pays or is refunded the difference at liquidation.
Common questions#
Does the landed cost calculator include antidumping duties?#
Not today. It includes the regular duty, chapter 99 additional duties and CBP fees, but not AD/CVD cash deposits, and it doesn't warn when an order may apply.
Can I tell the API my exporter's AD/CVD rate?#
Not yet. Until AD/CVD rates are live there is no AD/CVD line to apply a company rate to, so add the deposit to the quote yourself.
